The English Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension was located in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York at 51st Street and 13th Avenue. It was organized and incorporated on December 18, 1907. This index contains the Baptismal Records of those with Italian surnames ONLY. The records cover from November, 1908 to September, 1949 . Most of the Italian. This Church was part and parcel of the United Lutheran Church in America and under the auspices of the United Lutheran Synod of New York which was organized in 1929 with an office at 39 East 35 Street in New York City. The last pastor was Rev. Bernardino Dell’Osso. The Church was sold in 1958 and the funds were used to erect a new church in Lake Success on Long Island. Original Records are in the possession of IGG.
St. Mary of the Angels (1916-1958) was an archdeaconry mission of the Episcopal Diocese of New York. Located at 729 Cranford Avenue, it ministered to Italian immigrants in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, but it had parishioners from outside its borders. Known as “Church of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary” from 1916-1927, the founding priest was Rev. Lorenzo DiSano, a native of Castiglione, Sicily.
